New: Log in with passkeys via SwissID
Previously, login requests with SwissID accounts involved a password and – in certain cases – confirmation with a second factor, such as the SwissID App. SwissSign is now using what are known as ‘passkeys’ for this. These allow users to log in without having to enter a password, making the login process not only simpler, but also more secure.
How does logging in with passkeys work?
Passkeys are based on asymmetric cryptography. Today, they are a globally recognised standard and are used in a wide range of areas. Users do not have to enter any passwords to log in and there is no need for second-factor authentication. The login request is easily confirmed using biometrics, for example. Users do not need a separate app for this, but instead can use their own passkey-compatible device, such as their smartphone.

As a SwissID user, what do I need to do to benefit from the passkey feature?
Simply log in to your SwissID account. Under "Login settings", you can set up a new passkey and manage the passkeys used.
